BO 105 (SX-HMK)
Bellavia
The Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bo 105 is a light, twin-engine, and multifunctional helicopter that holds a special place in aviation history due to its innovations and performance.
It was the first light helicopter in the world with two engines, and also the first capable of performing aerobatic maneuvers such as inversions and loops—features that make it unique in its category. Some models were specifically designed for aerobatic displays and have been used in air shows and promotional events, remaining a benchmark for dynamic flight to this day.
One of the most significant technological innovations of the Bo 105 is its headless rotor system, made from a solid titanium block, to which the blades are directly attached. The blades themselves are flexible enough to absorb the necessary movements, eliminating the need for traditional mechanical hinges, reducing wear points and increasing reliability.
This design has proven to be highly resilient and safe: in over 6 million flight hours, there has been no recorded failure of the rotor head.
Beyond its performance and flexibility, the Bo 105 is highly adaptable: it can be quickly configured for use as an air ambulance, for VIP transportation of up to 4 passengers, for sightseeing flights, or for charter missions, effectively covering a wide range of public and private operations with reliability and safety.
